About Me

Hey y’all!  My name is Ashley, (though most people call me Fearsy,) and I’m a lighthearted lady who loves vintage, art, music, tattoos, & the great American open road.

In 2010 I moved to the big city (Boston, MA) from Missouri to pursue a Masters degree in Urban Planning with nothing but a couple of dollars and my loveable travel companion, Monty the dog.  While in Boston I re-connected with my good friend Emilie whose crafty designs and amazing cooking inspired me to re-explore my love for the arts and handmade goodies. (She might have even inspired me to learn a skillet from a toaster over. She's domestic.)  Together, we began to explore the blogging world and soon became obsessed with craft and cooking blogs.  (Read Emilie’s blog, Parsley, Sage Rosemary,& Thyme and the other amazing blogs that serve as my daily inspirations in my Blogroll, I promise you won’t regret it!) I've recently made my way back home to good ol' Missouri where I work as an environmental professional for my local municipality.  It's a pretty great life and I'm excited to share pieces of it with y'all!

They Call Me Fearsy is a lifestyle blog dedicated to sharing my love for crafting & DIY, personal & home styling, pop culture tidbits, and random thoughts.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Every time I see "FAQ's" on a blog or website I ALWAYS think of Ben Affleck's paddle in Dazed and Confused that says FahhhQ on it. Makes me giggle every time.

How old are you and where are you from?
It's official. I'm now 30, (and I'm not gonna lie, I wear that 30 year title like a badge of honor.) I'm originally from the Natural State, Arkansas, but lived most of my teen and adult life in Missouri. I also spent about 4 years in Boston, MA and consider it a second home.

What kind of camera do you take your pictures with?
I'm currently shooting with a Canon EOS Rebel T3.  I mostly use a 50mm f2.8 lens, but am dreaming about buying a wide angle lens like this one

What software do you use?
I use Adobe Photoshop for the most part, but haven't given up on gimp either! I use a combination of photoshop actions including Simon Filip, Totally Rad, A Beautiful Mess, and Wish, Wish Wish

Did you go to college? What for?
I have a BS in Environmental Science from Drury University and a Masters in City, Community, and Regional Planning from Boston University.  I'm currently working for my local government on sustainability initiatives and am loving every minute of it.

Are you afraid that your tattoos will hinder you in your adult life?
I get this question ALL THE TIME, most of the time unsolicited from a stranger in public.  It's so weird having someone come up to you to tell them they don't like something on your body.  I digress...  No, I'm not afraid that my tattoos will hinder my professional life.  Most days I'm lucky enough to be able to wear jeans and a nice top to work, and if my tats peek out, no-one seems to mind.  If the occasion calls for a more dressy event,  I'll throw on a cardigan.  No worries.

Can I use your photos/images on my blog/website?
Yes, you may use photos from my website on your blog but please link back with credit.  If you wish to link to an image from one of my list or what's making me happy posts, be sure to link back to the original source. It will make them happy too.
