Peanut Butter Dog Treats

January is such a fun month for me with both myself and two of my little nuggets turning a (human) year older, with Vanna turning 2 on the 7th & Monty turning 8 on the 8th.  (Aw, it's his golden year!)  I wanted to do something special for their birthdays (and to use the new mustache cookie cutters I received from my grandma. They're so cute!) so I set out to make some yummy all natural doggie biscuits.  These turned out really well and were SO easy to make, the puppies just gobbled them up!  I'm looking forward to adding other dog friendly foods to these, they'll definitely be on the puppy menu again!

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup chopped peanuts
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup natural peanut butter
1 cup water
2 tablespoons honey

♥ Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees F.

♥ In a large bowl combine flour, oatmeal, peanuts and baking powder. Add peanut butter, water, honey and get your hands dirty.  This mixture was SO easy to knead by hand, though I'm sure you could use a mixer with the paddle attachment.

♥ Lightly flour your surface and rolling pin, rolling dough to approx. 1/2 in thickness.  I used cute cookie cutters, but you could also cut the dough into strips.  The treats don't really spread while cooking so it's really easy to cut into shapes.

♥ Bake for 15-20 minutes on a lightly greased pan until golden.  Store in a tightly sealed container.  Feed to drooling dogs after cooled.

Happy Birthday to my little spoiled rotten pups!! xoxo Fearsy

  1. I just made dog treats this week, too! Pretty much the same recipe except I added chopped carrots (the pugs love them) and flax seeds. :)
